Importance of vehicle suppression systems
Vehicle suppression systems are fire suppression systems installed on heavy machinery. These systems are designed to protect mobile equipment from fire damage. The vehicle system has become a vital safety feature in several industries such as landfill, mining, and forestry. The type and size of the system installed is usually based on what model of machine it is and where that type of machine will be used.
Expert installation
Earlier this month, Fire Systems techs installed a vehicle suppression system on one of the dealer’s CAT D6T Dozers.
“Normally once the company receives an order to build a new machine, they will request a quote from us to install the vehicle fire suppression system,” explains Jason Brown. “They will then contact us when they are ready for the install. Installs are usually completed by one technician in about two days.”
The system installed for this job was an Ansul LT-A-101-30 dry chemical with an LVS 5-gallon wet chemical suppression system with automatic and manual actuation. This dual agent system by Ansul features both dry and wet chemical agents. The dry chemical protects the engine. The wet chemical is intended to protect the turbocharger, or exhaust system, which gets incredibly hot. Wet chemical is an ideal agent for extinguishing fires that originate in the exhaust system since it cools better than dry agent.
Fire Systems technicians installed this vehicle suppression system at the Caterpillar dealer in Brunswick, GA.
