FAQs

Your local AHJ and insurance company will determine if you need a suppression system for your facility. Fire suppression systems are typically designed for asset protection and not solely for life safety. These systems are used to quickly extinguish fires without causing damage or excessive clean up due to water or other extinguishing agents.

Not necessarily. FM-200 is being phased out but not banned. Existing systems can remain in service and be inspected, maintained, and recharged using reclaimed or recertified FM-200. Since new FM-200 supply is restricted, availability is tighter, and prices tend to be higher. This is important to consider after a discharge when you must decide whether to recharge with a reclaimed agent or convert to an alternative. However; there is no need to take action until you have a system discharge.

At least every 6 months. Most special-hazard systems (clean agent, CO₂) require a semiannual contents check (weigh or verify pressure), with annual functional testing of detection and release components. Inspections are critical for catching potential issues early, preventing false alarms and discharges.
